ANF foils bid to smuggle drugs to Italy, one arrested

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) personnel have foiled a bid to smuggle drugs to Italy while taking action at Faisalabad airport, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

According to ANF spokesperson, officials recovered seven kilograms of heroin worth Rs60 million in the international market during the raid conducted at Faisalabad airport.

A person was also arrested in the raid, the spokesperson added. However, identification of the arrested person was not yet disclosed.

ANF sources said that the accused person was smuggling the drugs with coordination of facilitators at the airport.

Earlier on April 2, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had seized a suspicious parcel full of prohibited medicines used for intoxication by drug addicts during a raid conducted at Karachi airport.

ANF spokesperson said that the parcel was booked by a person named Mansoor Khizar for delivery to Sydney’s Patrick William.

In another raid, ANF officials raided Hyderi Masjid in Purana Golimar area of the metropolis and seized 800 grams hashish, 50 grams methamphetamine which worth more than Rs2 million in the international market. An accused person was also arrested by the ANF officials, spokesperson said.

On March 28, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had carried out a crackdown against drug peddlers and seized 3,015.938 kilogram drug and arrested 32 suspects.

The huge quantity of drug was recovered during 29 raids at different places in the metropolis, said the ANF spokesperson adding that the captured 32 suspects included seven women as well.

He said the recovered narcotics valued at Rs0.1351 trillion in the international market.
