MULTAN: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Nishtar Hospital to inquire after the health of those injured in the horrific oil tanker blaze at Ahmed Pur Sharkia, ARY News reported.
According to the Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR), the army’s media wing, General Qamar Bajwa was briefed by the vice chancellor of the Nishtar Medical University and in-charge burns center at the hospital about the condition of people injured in the incident.
On the occasion, the army chief commended the role and efforts of the first-responders, including the civil administration, motorway and Punjab police as well as the local residents of the area and the hospital staff.
He assured the civil administration of the army’s full support in providing best care to people injured in the incident and said crises management was a joint national responsibility.
The COAS said that public awareness campaign should be launched to raise awareness among people to prevent such happenings in the future.

Later, General Bajwa met the families of the martyred soldiers at Multan Garrison. He lauded their great sacrifices and said the nation was proud of them. The COAS said nothing was more sacred than laying one’s life for the sake of the country.
