MANSEHRA: An ARY News team which approached Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (retd) Safdar to talk about his election campaign in Mansehra was manhandled by his security team, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
According to details, ARY News anchor Adil Abbasi along with his team approached the PML-N leader for a show titled ‘Halqa-e-Siyasat’ but Safdar not only lectured the team about why he doesn’t wish to talk to them but one of his security guards also manhandled the team.
“During his lecture, he criticised judiciary and state institutions, after which he said that he will not talk to us because Abba (Nawaz Sharif) has forbidden him to do so,” said Adil Abbasi.
Abbasi added that he then asked Safdar, who also happens to be PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law, to comment about the imminent Avenfield reference verdict but his security guards instead attacked the ARY News team’s cameraman.
“A man came from behind and snatched our cameraman’s camera, after which our team couldn’t continue the show,” said Abbasi.
Captain (retired) Safdar is contesting the general elections from from NA-14 Mansehra and will lock horns with PTI heavyweight Zar Gul Khan and PPP’s Shujah Khan.
This is not the first time that ARY News is attacked by PML-N men as last year, the channel’s teams were attacked thrice during former PM Nawaz Sharif’s GT Road rally.
