ISLAMABAD: A corner meeting conducted by senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar came under attack when unknown men resorted to firing last night, however no casualties were reported.
The attack took place when the corner meeting was underway in Adnan Market area of Sector G/11 in Islamabad.
Asad Umar is contesting elections from the NA-54 (Islamabad) constituency.

No injuries were reported during the gun fire, however, PTI workers protested over security lapse and surrounded Ramna Police Station after the incident.
Zeeshan Haider, the superintendent of police (SP) for Saddar Zone ruled out any major threat and said the aim of the suspects was to spread fear ahead of the upcoming elections.
The workers alleged that the opponents resorted to firing on the corner meeting, and demanded arrest and probe into the incident.
Earlier addressing gathering, Umar committed to people in the constituency to provide 100 million gallons water per day on priority basis, after getting power, in order to resolve the water scarcity issue of the capital.
He said, “I have presented maximum bills for legislation at the floor of the House for the welfare of Islamabad’s citizens which were only opposed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarians”. “If his party comes into power, then all the halted legislation would be passed for the betterment of the people in the capital”, he added.
