Balochistan announces three-day mourning on Mastung carnage incident

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has announced to observe three-day mourning across the province in the wake of the tragic Mastung carnage incident.

According to a press release, the national flag would fly at half-mast during this period.

In a deadliest attack on election campaigning, a suicide bomber killed more than 128 people and injured 150 others at an election rally in Balochistan’s Mastung on Friday (July 14), in the second election-related attack on the same day. Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate Nawabzada Siraj Raisani was also among the dead victims.

The BAP has announced three-day mourning over the barbaric Mastung incident in which party leader Nawabzada Mir Siraj Raisani was also martyred among 128 others.

Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasirul Mulk also announced national day of mourning on Sunday.

During the day of mourning, the national flag at the government buildings will fly at half-mast, while all the offices and schools remained closed on Saturday (today).

The markets and transport will also remain closed during the days of mourning.

The bombing was the most deadly attack in Pakistan in over three years and is the third incident of election-related violence this week.

Raisani is the second electoral candidate to be killed in pre-election terrorist attacks this week.
