Bomb attack kills three in Chabahar city of Iran: state media
TEHRAN: bomb attack on a police command post killed at least three people in the port city of Chabahar in southeastern region of Iran on Thursday, state media reported.
The television said several people were also wounded in the terrorist attack. The official IRNA news agency said it was a car bombing.
Sistan-Baluchistan province, where the bombing hit, has long been a flashpoint, with a number of attacks reported in recent past.
The report went on to say that shooting could also be heard in the city. Details were sketchy as the situation was still developing.
Videos shared on Twitter said to be taken from the scene shows smoke rising into the sky with the sound of sirens heard in the background.
State authorities did not identify who was behind the attack. No militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Chabahar, near Iran’s border with Pakistan on the Arabian Sea, is home to a new port recently built and is an economic free zone for the country.
