KARACHI: The simple menu adopted at the eleventh hour for the oath-taking ceremony of Murad Ali Shah as Sindh chief minister in Karachi left people awestruck.

Earlier a menu of lavish food items was sent out along invitations which included chicken patties, chicken wings, reshmi kebab, plain cake, finger fish, gulab jamin, chicken sandwich, tea/ green tea/ coffee and mineral water. According to the list seating was arranged for 1000 people, while food was arranged for 1200 people.

However, the guests were served with simple tea and biscuits, as the menu was changed in the nick of time.

This change triggered speculation if ‘the change’ had taken place in the Sindh government as well. The provincial government followed in the footsteps of the federal government as the latter on directive of newly-elected Prime Minister Imran Khan served water and tea only at his swearing in ceremony in the morning.
