ISLAMABAD: Staving off the criticism of him for allegedly impinging on the domain of the executive, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Tuesday made it clear that he doesn’t have any political agenda.

The chief justice, who was hearing a case pertaining to prices of medicines, observed, “I don’t have any political agenda.”

He stressed that he didn’t even want to touch political cases, but the situation warranted so.

“Our intentions are clear, anybody can test us in any way,” he said in what appears to be reaction to the criticism of the apex court by the ruling PML-N.

CJP Nisar said that the only thing he wanted was provision of all essentials to people. They should be provided with medicines to fight diseases.

About prices of medicines, the chief justice said no one would make any investments without considerations of earning profit, but there should be reasonable profit.

The chief justice directed all pharmaceutical companies to come up with a comprehensive report on prices of medicines so that the court could pass an appropriate order in this regard on next hearing.

Former prime minster Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and other PML-N leaders have often indulged in criticism of the apex court judges first for dislodging him from the office of the prime minister and then declaring him ineligible to head the party.
