ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing on Monday said that China will give Pakistani exporters access to 90 percent of its market share under the second phase of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Talking to media in Islamabad, Yao Jing said the second phase of the FTA will be signed during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s upcoming visit to China to attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum, which will start on April 25 and culminate on April 27.

“Opening of the Chinese markets for Pakistani goods will greatly help step up Pakistani exports to China. In return, we only seek 60pc market share in Pakistan,” he said.

The ambassador said during his visit to Beijing, PM Khan would hold meetings with the Chinese leadership to discuss the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), apart from regional and international issues.

He maintained Premier Khan’s visit to the neighbouring country would provide both the countries with an opportunity to further explore new vistas of ties.

“Both countries are set to begin the second phase of the FTA. There is a complete understanding between Pakistan and China that the CPEC would yield benefits for both the countries,” he said.
