“Cops witnessing murder of Irshad Ranjhani should be arrested”, says CM Shah

KARACHI: Chief minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, on Monday said police officers, who witnessed the killing of Irshad Ranjhani in city’s Bhains Colony area, were also involved in the murder, ARY News reported.

“Did the police not see Irshad Ranjhani lying in the pool of blood and dying,” asked the chief minister in his speech during the Sindh Assembly session. He demanded the cops involved in the case should be arrested forthwith.

He had he also called for judicial inquiry into the matter within 24 hours. Ranjhani was shot five times from a point blank range, said the CM.

He said Irshad was being labeled as a dacoit from the day one and it was also being said that an FIR was registered against him. “If somebody is facing an FIR, take a gun and shoot him,” the visibly-incensed CM said.

Those who killed Ranjhani appear to have to no fear of God, he stated.

He cited an example of Khyber Pakhtonkhwa (KP), saying when a cop refused to obey an order he is removed or transferred immediately.

“I have given strict instructions to inspector general police Sindh to probe the matter,” said Shah.

Was Ranjhani a criminal?

The initial investigation report into Irshad Ranjhani murder case on Feb 9 revealed that the political worker was booked in four criminal cases.

The investigation team found the criminal record of Ranjhani, who was killed by Union Council (UC) chairman Rahim Shah in city’s Bhains Colony area.

“One case is lodged in North Nazimabad police station while another in Bahadurabad station. Moreover, two cases are registered in the station of Defense area of Karachi,” the investigation officer said.

The cases were lodged on the complaints of robbery and possessing illegal weapon against Ranjhani.
