LAHORE: An accountability court has extended the judicial remand of former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique for 14 days in the Paragon Housing Society scheme scandal, ARY News reported on Thursday.

Both the brothers were produced before the court of Judge Najmul Hassan.

The court asked NAB prosecutor about the status of the investigation and when the reference will be filed against both the brothers?

To this, the NAB prosecutor replied, the reference will be filed soon after the investigation concludes.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 18 after granting 14 days remand of the Khawaja brothers.

Saad Rafique said the NAB had no proof against him or his brother. “Whoever talks about the rights faces the same treatment that we are currently going through,” he moaned.

He said he was facing the [cruel] treatment for adhering to the constitution and the law.

Rafique and his brother were arrested on Dec 11 after the Lahore High Court rejected their bail plea.

NAB had launched an investigation into the alleged scam in November last year after a number of victims staged protests and held a press conference at the Lahore Press Club against the fraud committed by the housing society.
