LAHORE: A magisterial court here on Monday dismissed bail applications of two men who were arrested for allegedly torturing one of the suspects’ wife over her refusal to dance for their entertainment, ARY News reported.

Judicial Magistrate Shahid Zia rejected the applications of Faisal and Rashid seeking their release on bail.

The applicants contended before the court through their lawyer that the case they were facing was a bailable offence and pleaded to the judicial officer to grant them bail.

Last month, the incident of domestic abuse came to the fore as a video showing the victim went viral on social media. Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi and Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari had taken notice of the incident and ordered immediate action against the culprits.
