KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested four suspected terrorists while three others were killed in an alleged encounter with CTD during an overnight raid in Karachi’s Machhar Colony area, ARY News reported.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Omer Shahid Hamid, CTD personnel conducted raid at a house in the locality on an intelligence tip-off about presence of terrorists. The suspects opened fire on the raiding team after CTD personnel approached the house.
In retaliatory firing the CTD personnel killed three suspects while four others were arrested after heavy exchange of fire.
The anti-terrorism department claimed to recover huge cache of arms and ammunition including improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and explosive material from the possession of the terrorists.
Separately, police detained a target killer from Ittehad Town of Karachi.
According to police, the target killer is affiliated with militant wing of a political party and has been involved in scores of targeted killings in Orangi Town.
Police also claimed to recover a hand grenade, rifle, and a pistol from his possession. However, no details were shared with regard to his identification and affiliation with political party.
