RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor says if there is a Bajwa doctrine, it is for the security and making Pakistan a peaceful country.

Though, the Bajwa doctrine (credited to Pakistan Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa) has nothing to do with the 18th Constitutional amendment, he said while responding to a query at a presser today.

He highlighted that the doctrine should not confused with any other interpretation rather than developing a peaceful Pakistan.

The DG ISPR said Pakistan’s constructive role globally helped the United States become the sole super power of the world. The military’s spokesperson said Trump’s turbulent tweet [against Pakistan] on January 1 affected the regional politics. “The region is moving from geo-politics to geo-economy which everyone needs to understand.”

DG ISPR said India should be thankful to Pakistan for its role of buffer and cooperation with world powers for fighting war against militants.

Maj. Gen. Ghafoor reiterated that Pakistan’s persistent efforts for peace should not be misconstrued as its weakness. He said if India continues to see CPEC with political lens, it will affect countries which are due to get benefits from the Pak-China corridor project. We have to take relative stability to enduring stability in the current economic condition, he added.

He said India committed 398 ceasefire violations along the border. He said the Indian aggression along Working Boundary and LoC was uncalled-for.

He said after COAS visit, Pakistan and Iran’s border cooperation has improved. The upsides of the army chief’s visit have begun to reflect now, he added.

He said our forces have been training Saudi forces since 1982 bilateral security agreement. “Our new batch of forces has not yet left for Saudi Arabia, but once an understanding reaches in this regard our forces will depart for the Kingdom.”

To a question regarding Bajwa doctrine, the DG ISPR played a clip of his interview with ARY News anchor Arshad Sharif’s programme to reflect background of the matter.

He had said in the clip that the doctrine was aimed at “getting a normalised Pakistan.”

He said army chief met TV anchors and it was all ‘off the record’ affair, but the COAS spoke everything that ISPR say in its statement.

He insisted that the army desires to move Pakistan to a peaceful zone

Improved Karachi

He said operation started in 2013 is producing results now. The Karachi situation has become far better from it used to be five years ago. “The Karachi of 2018 is visible to everyone after Pakistan Super League final in the city.”

He said Karachi has been completely rid of no-go areas.

Under anti-terror operation Raddul Fasad, he said 26 major operations were launched countrywide while 23,000 intelligence-based operations were conducted. He also added that 7758 joint check posts set up as part of a security enhancement.
