LAHORE: Traffic wardens and Dolphin Force personnel thrashed a 55-year-old man on Lahore’s Jail Road for alleged violation of a traffic law.
The man, identified as Rehman, who was beaten up by the wardens and Dolphin Force team was coming back from the Services Hospital along with his two young sons and he is said to be a patient of Hepatitis C.
It started with a bickering between wardens and the man before Dolphin Force personnel join the traffic police and both of them assaulted the man. Some passersby filmed the torture of the patient in the presence of scores of people.
With onlookers at the spot, Dolphin squad dragged the man along with his sons to the Shadman police station where they kept them in custody for about two hours. They were, however, released on the intervention of police authorities when the matter was brought to their notice.
A spokesperson for the traffic police says it was the fault on the part of his son who violated traffic law. He claimed that the Dolphin squad made entry when they found the elderly man and his sons misbehaving with on-duty warden Imran.
It is reported that the man later submitted written apology for his fault.
