Nargis Fakhri had been busy promoting Azhar with Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi when all of a sudden, she jetted off to New York. The actress’ official spokesperson spoke to an Indian website and cited medical reasons for her leaving the country all of a sudden. However, sources close to the actress have revealed that Nargis is suffering from a nervous breakdown after her boyfriend Uday Chopra refused to marry her.
“Nargis was all set to announce her wedding to Uday Chopra, but he’d changed his mind about getting hitched and this came as a shock to her. There was a time when he was very keen to marry her and had proposed to her, but she wanted to focus on her career and Hollywood films. Now, the tables have turned. She had a huge fight with him, suffered a nervous breakdown and left almost overnight,” disclosed a source to a popular Indian website.
However, the actress’ spokesperson said otherwise and denied allegations that the actress was about to quit the Indian film industry. Here’s what Fakhri’s spokesperson said about her predicament:-
“Nargis has been extremely overworked working on 3 films simultaneously over the last year. Schedules and intense work hours that film-making demands are not something everyone can cope with. Nargis has been unwell, right through the ‘Azhar’ promotions with multiple injuries – torn hamstring, anterior knee ligament thinning and mild socket dislocation along with the burning of the stomach lining due to lead and arsenic poisoning,” he said.
The actress plays Sangeeta Bijlani in Azhar, a biopic on the life of Indian cricketing legend Muhammad Azharuddin. Prachi Desai also stars in the movie, which covers Azharuddin’s various aspects of life, from his extra-marital affairs to the infamous match-fixing scandal he was found guilty in.
