KARACHI: Evidence into deaths of  six including five children in the government rest house in Karachi has been destroyed, ARY News reported on Wednesday. 

Six people of a family including five children were died of suspected food poisoning in Karachi.

The close circuit television (CCTV) footage shows that the room was washed after shifting the bodies to the hospital, without taking prior information from the authorities concerned.

It was also learnt by ARY News that the room was under use of a police officer before its allotment to the affected family.

“Even clearance certificate was not issued before its re allotment,” the sources said.

All of them had reportedly eaten biryani from a restaurant near their hotel.

In an initial report, the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) had informed the Sindh chief minister  that food samples collected from the Naubahar Restaurant – from where the victims’ father bought food – and Qasar-e-Naz – where the family was staying –, had been sent to a lab for testing.

Karachi University’s Hussain Ebrahim Jamal (HEJ) Research Institute of Chemistry has received samples in this regard.

The final report about the incident will be prepared in view of the chemical analysis report and postmortem reports.

The cause of death of the six deceased will be determined after a final medical report, sources said.

The six people reportedly consumed biryani from a known restaurant died in a suspected food poisoning incident. The victims were admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on February 21.

All of them had reportedly eaten biryani from a restaurant near their hotel.
