Extravagant lifestyle of politicians a result of massive corruption: NAB chief
QUETTA: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said that the extravagant lifestyles that most politicians have are a result of immense corruption which has left the country in shambles.
In a conference held in Quetta, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that all people involved in any sort of corruption will be held accountable.
“Everyone will be held accountable regardless of their position and we shall begin with the political leaders in the country,” he stated.
He further stressed that none of NAB inquiries have any ulterior motive and the bureaucracy has nothing to worry about as it should play a vital role in the whole inquiry process.
He argued that corruption isn’t like termites but is a cancer and has led to the rapid deterioration of the state of Pakistan. He said the narrative that the work of the government has halted because of NAB, is completely unfounded.
He further said that Pakistan has been blessed with a province like Balochistan which is rich in natural resources. However, instead of tapping those resources, we have massive corruption scandals in Saindak and Reko Diq projects.
