FAISALABAD: Two students were killed when a passenger bus ran over them in Faisalabad on Saturday.

Police said the deceased identified as Nadeem and Sameeullah were students of a university.

Earlier, in a similar incident a speeding bus had run over a student Haider Ali, leaving him dead on the spot.

The incident caused widespread outrage in the city as students went on rampage and set ablaze six buses one after another on the road.

Subsequently, the police booked as many as 450 students of the Government Islamic College Faisalabad for rioting and torching buses, according to the police.

Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for deadly traffic accidents, blamed on decrepit roads, badly maintained vehicles, reckless driving and violation of traffic laws.
