BULAWAYO: Pakistan’s prolific opener Fakhar Zaman added another feat to his credit when he smashed a double hundred against Zimbabwe, hence becoming first Pakistan player to achieve this record mark after Saeed Anwar’s highest 194 against India in 1997.

With the help of 24 fours and five sixes, Fakhar reached this landmark in 150 balls, or say half of the ODI innings.

With his staggering 210, Pakistan also managed to score its highest ever score 399 in the ODIs. Pakistan reached its historic total losing just one wicket.

India’s Rohit Sharma made headlines after he broke through the mystical 200 mark with a score of 209 against Australia in Bengaluru in 2013 and he followed it up with a staggering score of 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014, which remains a world record.

Recently, Fakhar clinched the second spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 rankings, after his match-winning 91 against top Australian side in the T20 tri-series final two weeks ago.

Zaman, who Australian skipper Aaron Finch had called “a real thorn in our [Pakistan] side” before the final, slammed a career-best 91 in just 46 balls in the final, his blitz helping Pakistan cross Australia’s 183/8 with four balls in hand.

Zaman’s performance in the tournament was spectacular and his rise in the rankings equally so. His sequence in Zimbabwe tri-series was 61, 6, 47, 73 (his career-best score before the final) and 91. The dashing opener has moved up 44 spots on the table to reach No.2 with 842 points, also the best in his short international career so far.
