Famous awards bestowed on Pakistan Day!

The Pakistan Day parade was held in full force after seven long years when the armed forces led their war machines and war troops demonstrate a show of strength. The occasion was also ripe to bestow awards on those who had sacrificed their lives for their country or made their nation proud through sheer hard work and efforts.

The Hilal-I-Imtiaz is the second highest honorary award given to both civil and military personnel. These awards are distributed in recognition of any great contribution made to the state, especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of Pakistan, world peace, cultural or other significant public endeavors. The following were bestowed with the Hilal-I-Imtiaz award:-

Dr. Raza Samar (Aerospace Engineering

Dr. Muhammad Riaz Suddle (Electronics Engineering)

Agha Hasan Abedi (late) (Public Service)

Sitara-i-Imtiaz is the third highest honorary award which is bestowed on those who also through their excelling talent and hard work, represent Pakistan on the international stage and promote it in a positive light. Here are the recipients of Sitara-i-Imtiaz who received their awards yesterday:-

Tamgha-i-Imtiaz is the fourth highest civilian award which is conferred on those individuals who have served Pakistan well and contributed in any form to its benefit. Whilst it is a civilian award, the medal is also given to the armed forces. Following is a list of individuals who were presented with this medla yesterday:-

Prof. Dr. Tahir Masood (Education)
Mr. Jamshed Masroor, (Jamshed Iqbal Rana) (Literature – Poetry)
Mr. Minhaj Muhammad Khan (Minhaj Barna) (late) (Journalism)
Dr. Nauman Hamid Niaz (Sports – Sports Journalism / Broadcasting)

Also known as Tamgha-i-Husn Karkardagi award, this medal is given away to individuals who have excelled in Literature, Arts, Sports, Medicine and Science. These individuals were awarded yesterday by the President with the Tamgha-i-Husn Karkardagi:-

Mr. Asif Ali Khan (Arts – Film Actor)
Mr. Ata-ur-Rehman (Journalism)
Mr. Amir Iqbal Khan (Sports – Squash)
Ms. Samina Baig (Sports – Mountaineering)
Dr. Jamal Nasir (Social Work)

The highest award for bravery and gallantry as far as the armed forces are concerned, is the Hilal-i-Shujaat. It was bestowed on Lt.General Rizwan Akhtar yesterday.

These awards are conferred on individuals who benefit Pakistan on the international scene and have been bestowed on an ambassador in the past on account of strengthening Pakistan’s relations with a country. Named after Quaid-e-Azam, it is an honor to receive this award. The following two individuals were awarded the star yesterday:-

Dr. Peter Langer (Services to Pakistan)
Dr. Sajjad Haider Karim (Services to Pakistan)

Sitara-i-Shujaat is also awarded on account of bravery and courage. Two of the three recipients of the award were the martyred victims of the APS attack in Peshawar.
