RAWALPINDI: The work of the border fencing with Afghanistan will be completed by December 2019, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) here said.

D.G. ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor in a statement said that Pakistan Army has completed 70 pct work of the border fencing.

Despite intense weather and firing from other side of the boundary line, the Army’s soldiers are consistently working to make the Pak-Afghan border secure, Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor said in a statement.

Around 70 pct work of the border fencing has been completed, he said. The work has been completed at 802 kilometers of the border area, while remaining work has been in progress and will be accomplished in December 2019, the ISPR chief further said.

D.G. ISPR has said that 233 security forts have been constructed on the border, while 610 remaining forts will also be completed.

He said the completion of the fencing will restrict the movement of the terrorists, while the peaceful people of Pakistan and Afghanistan will be benefited from the border fencing.

The work on the fencing was tried to be disrupted from across the border, Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor said. The soldiers received bullets at their chests but didn’t close the work for security of the border, he added.
