KARACHI: In a bid to discourage VIP culture, the interior ministry has restrained Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from giving any VIP protocol or special treatment to government officers or other VIPs at airports across the country, ARY News reported.

Director general immigration had written a letter, a copy of which is available with ARY News, to all FIA zones at airports, warning FIA officials with strict action for giving VIP protocol to any government officials or other VIPs. The shift in-charge will also have to face consequences if any of his/her subordinate was caught violating these directives.

The immigration staff and their shift in-charge will be suspended if found giving protocol, the letter said. The ban on VIP protocol has been imposed on the directives of the ministry of interior, it added.

Besides, it said, immigration counters at all airports across the country will be monitored through close circuit TV cameras and all passengers will have to stand in queue at the counters.
