FIA bars Ramzan Sugar Mills’ manager from flying abroad

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday offloaded manager of Ramzan Sugar Mills Muhammad Mushtaque from a Pakistan International Airline’s flight at the Lahore airport, citing sources, ARY news reported.

Mushtaque was offloaded as his name was placed in the Exit Control List (ECL) and later was handed over to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), sources said.

Sources claimed that the manager of the Ramzan Sugar Mills was fleeing Dubai via PIA from the Lahore Airport.

Mushtaq is accused of making a Rs70 million transaction in Salman Shehbaz’s bank account, sources added.

The Ramzan Sugar Mills case is currently under trial in the accountability court against Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz and other accused for allegedly misusing their powers for the construction of a drain in Chiniot district.

Hamza Shahbaz who is leader of opposition in the Punjab Assembly has been nominated in the reference for his alleged role being chief executive of the Ramzan Sugar Mills to get constructed a bridge at the cost of Rs 200 million out of the public money to facilitate his mill in Chiniot.

According to a list prepared by NAB, former Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif’s then Implementation Secretary Ahmed Javed Qazi, Imdadullah Bosal, then Secretary to CM Syed Tariq Shah and then Admin Secretary Tariq Masood would record their statements in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case.
