MULTAN: All flights to the Multan International Airport resumed on Monday morning hours after their suspension owing to “operational reasons”.
Flight operations at the airport were suspended around 2:25am on Monday, a statement issued by the airport’s spokesperson said, explaining that the runway had to be shut down due to “operational reasons”.
All flights that were destined to land in Multan were diverted to Karachi and Lahore, the spokesperson said.
Operations were resumed at 8am, some 6.5 hours after they were suspended.
Recently, following the tensions between Pakistan and India, the Civil Aviation Authority had closed the country’s airspace for all flight operations in the end of February.
The suspension of, specially, the eastern airspace lasted for weeks at the airports of Sialkot, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and D. G. Khan as CAA had said no flight would enter Pakistan from Indian airspace.
