Foreign minister seeks economic diplomacy to bring investment in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi on Wednesday said in pursuance of economic diplomacy, the Foreign Office would extend its full cooperation with every ministry to bring investment and generate employment opportunities in Pakistan, ARY News reported.

Addressing Pakistani community in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he emphasised the need for economic diplomacy saying we have to invite the Pakistanis to come and invest in their country.

The foreign minister said 80-85,000 Pakistanis, residing in Malaysia, sent remittances of one billion dollars every year and we have to value those Pakistanis for their great contribution.

He said it was time to differentiate among those who were sending their Halal income to Pakistan and those who were involved in money laundering.

Earlier this month during his visit to China, Prime Minister Imran Khan urged Chinese businessmen to explore investment opportunities in diverse socio-economic sectors of Pakistan.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the progress on projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He appreciated the business ventures of the Chinese companies in Pakistan particularly under the CPEC projects.
