KARACHI: Judicial magistrate on Sunday sent former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senator Faisal Raza Abidi to jail on judicial remand, ARY News reported.

Abidi was presented before the court of a judicial magistrate in Malir area. The judge, after hearing the arguments, sent the ex-senator to jail. The hearing was adjourned till 19th November.

According to details, the license of a sub-machine gun was not presented, which was confiscated from custody of Abidi. The case of weapons possession was filed in Sachal Police Station.

The law enforcement agencies couple of days arrested the former PPP senator after carrying out a search operation at his residence in New Rizvia Society area.

Police sources said that Abidi was arrested in connection to recent firing and terrorism incidents in the city.

Sources said that weapons were found from Abidi’s home as well, which later turned out to be licensed arms.

It should be noted that Abidi stepped down as the president of PPP Karachi in 2012 and resigned as senator in 2014 over differences with the party leadership.
