Four robbers killed in police ‘encounter’ in Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh police claimed to have gunned down four alleged robbers in encounters in different parts of the city on Saturday night, ARY News reported.

According to police, three robbers were killed in a shootout in Jangal Goth in close proximity of Gulshan-e-Maymar area.

SSP Malir Rao Anwar said the personnel of the police intercepted the robbers who were robbing citizens visiting livestock market off Super Highway. They engaged the police in shootout. In the resulting exchange of fire, they were killed.

He said their dead bodies have been shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. Illegal weapons, snatched motorcycle and other valuables were also recovered from their possession.

Whereas, in another encounter, the police said  a robber was killed in Korangi’s Zaman Town area and they recovered snatched mobile phones, a motorcycle and other valuables from his possession.

Meanwhile, the police said they have arrested two drug peddlers within the limits of Kiamari police station and recovered drugs from their possession.

Sindh Rangers arrested eleven criminals during raids in different areas of the city. According to Rangers spokesperson, the arrested also include suspects belonging to a political party and Lyari gang war. He further said that they were required in a number of cases of heinous crimes.
