Gas supply from Sui field suspended after midnight blaze incident

LAHORE: A fire at the Sui gas field in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan suspended the gas supply from the field, ARY News reported on Saturday. 

The blaze erupted at a gas pipeline a spokesman of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) has said in a statement.

The fire erupted in the wee hours of Saturday morning  at 1:20 AM in at the gas field’s purification plant, sources said. It started at the nozzles that supplies gas to the compressor plant and then spread to the main line, sources added.

The gas company has recommended immediate closure of Zamzama, Kunj, Hassan and Pirkoh gas wells forthwith, a SNGPL statement said.

The Sui Southern Gas Company officials have been informed about the incident.

The authorities have directed for suspension of RLNG supply to Sui Northern Gas from Dadu after the midnight fire incident.

A spokesman said that the gas supply of 170 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMCFD) has been suspended to the SNGPL.

The fire incident at Sui has created a shortfall of 390 MMCFD gas deficit, the spokesman added.

According to the spokesman in coming three hours 200 MMCFD gas supply will be restored.

The company’s spokesman has said that after the fire incident the gas supply could be suspended to some parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
