ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said his government inherited a huge deficit of current and fiscal account and was endeavouring to overcome the financial crisis.

Talking to a delegation of columnists in Islamabad, he said that the government decided to approach the friendly countries to deal with the situation and by the grace of Almighty Allah, it overcame the financial crunch and balance of payments issue.

PM Imran said that the government would present a comprehensive programme to the nation showing its performance and direction in education, health, poverty alleviation and other vital sectors during the first 100 days.

He said the first 100 days report assumed a significant importance in any government as it informed the people about government’s direction and future course of action.

Earlier in a statement today, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry informed that the premier would present the 100-day progress report of his government before the nation on November 29.

According to details, Imran will apprise Pakistanis on the performance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during its first 100 days in the government by the end of this month, the minister said.

“No other government has even gotten close to what we [PTI government] achieved in our first 100 days,” Chaudhry remarked boastfully at a press conference after a session of the federal cabinet.

In its first 100 days of governance, PTI government has taken a number of steps, wherein few notable measures include austerity drive, 5-year plan for polio eradication, plantation and cleanliness campaigns, clean and green Pakistan and ‘Naya Pakistan Housing Programme’.
