Govt orders Nadra to re-verify CNICs of all citizens

ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday ordered National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to re-verify the identity cards of all citizens across the country, ARY News reported.

Addressing a meeting of Nadra officials here, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan clarified that Nadra and corruption cannot go together for it will defame the country.

Ordering to re-verify the computerized national identity cards (CNICs) of all the citizens, he directed officials to devise a strategy in this regard within 48 hours. The minister directed them to take emergency measures in order to deal with the situation, adding, “We have to finish in days, what requires years to accomplish”.

“This is an emergency situation and we are to convey a message to the world that no fake NICs are issued in Pakistan,” he asserted. “And that acquiring an identity in Pakistan is not easy”.
