Govt submits JIT reports of high-profile cases in court

KARACHI: The Government of Sindh submitted joint investigation teams’ (JITs) reports in Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday, ARY News reported.

The provincial government submitted JIT reports in high-profile cases of Lyari-based gangster Uzair Baloch, former Fishermen Cooperative Society chairman Dr Nisar Morai and the Baldia Town garments factory arson case in the court.

A division bench of the high court headed by Justice Mohammad Iqbal Kalhoro hearing a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Syed Ali Haider Zaidi seeking the court to order government to make public announcement of the JIT reports on Uzair Baloch, Nisar Morai and Baldia Town factory arson case.

The bench remarked that the court will decide the matter after review of the JIT reports.

The government counsel denied of formation of a joint investigation team with regard to case against former Fishermen Cooperative Society chairman Nisar Morai.

The counsel of petitioner argued that the government of Sindh had issued notification of formation of the JIT in Nisar Morai’s case. He also pleaded for verification of the submitted JIT reports from concerned departments.

The bench directed the petitioner to submit a copy of the notification and affidavit by March 09.
