LAHORE: Police on Saturday registered an FIR against security guards of Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz for allegedly torturing and threatening a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team that raided his residence to arrest him, ARY News reported.

The Model Town police lodged the case on the complaint of the corruption watchdog under different sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), including ones related to obstructing a public servant in discharge of public functions, extending threats of dire consequences and torture.

Earlier, on April 5, the bureau’s team comprising nine officials raided 96 H residence of Hamza Shehbaz along with his arrest warrants issued by NAB Chairman Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal in an assets beyond means and money laundering case.

However, PML-N activists and the Sharif family’s guards prevented the team from arresting Hamza.

According to NAB, one of its officers was manhandled and his clothes were torn apart by the PML-N workers.
