PESHAWAR: The widow of the late ANP leader Haroon Bilour has returned the compensation cheque of the provincial government and said that her spouse had sacrificed his life for the sake of the country.

The K-P government on Thursday issued compensation cheques to the heirs of the victims of Yakatoot tragedy in which a cheque of Rs0.5 million was sent to the widow of ANP leader and candidate from PK-78, Haroon Bilour, which was returned to the provincial government.

Samar Haroon Bilour said the Bilour family had always shown resilience against terrorism. She said that her father-in-law, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, was martyred by terrorists while her husband had also become victim of terrorism. However, she said Bilour family would not be intimidated through such acts of cowardice.

Earlier, it was reported that the wife of Haroon Bilour is going to contest the elections in her husband’s place from PK-78 constituency of Peshawar.

Haroon lost his life in a suicide bombing attack when he was addressing a party meeting in Peshawar last week.

Haroon’s father Bashir Ahmed Bilour was also killed in a suicide attack back in 2012, while 65 others were also injured in the bombing.

Haroon Bilour’s wife is the daughter of former home minister of Sindh Irfanullah Marwat, and granddaughter of former President of Pakistan, late Ghulam Ishaq Khan.
