Health Ministry to hold joint research study with Bradford University: Kiani
ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Health Services Amir Mehmood Kiani on Wednesday said the Ministry of Health will hold joint research study with Bradford University to find out factors behind several diseases.
This he said in a meeting with a delegation led by Professor John Wright of Bradford University and Professor Dr Atif-ur-Rehman of Liverpool University who called on the minister in Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Amir Mehmood Kiani said his ministry was going to hold cohort study with the cooperation of Bradford University for the first time in Pakistan.
“Research will be carried out in nutrition, mental health, non-communicable diseases and factors behind various ills,” he said.
He said the research would help find reasons for spread of various diseases. He said cohort study was considered one of the most reliable evidence in the world of research.
He said the research would be a big step in the field of health in Pakistan.
Earlier on Saturday, the federal health minister vowed to make all efforts to provide the best health facilities to the poor segment as envisioned by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Aamir Mehmood Kiani said that as per desire of Khan, they had completed an important step to expand the ambit of social health protection initiative (Sehat Cards) to poor families across Pakistan.
He said that financial bids of insurance companies were opened in the presence of media for provision of health cards to 14 million families across Pakistan.
