DELHI: Some Hindu extremists beat a Hafiz-e-Quran to death and left other two injured when they were on their way to home in Mewat after completing Taraweeh prayers in Delhi, Indian media reported on Saturday.
One of the three Hafiz-e-Qurans (ones who have memorized Quran), who were brutally tortured, died on the spot while his two friends are under treatment at Trauma Center of Safdar Jang Hospital in New Delhi. The incident has escalated tension between Delhi and Mewat.
The youth, Hafiz Junaid, Hafiz Muhammad Hashim and Hafiz Muhammad Shakir hailed from Faridabad area.
They were leading Taraweeh prayers in different mosques of Delhi and after completing their Taraweeh on Ramazan 27 they were returning to their hometown through Ghaziabad Palul Passenger Train. Some Hindu extremists were also aboard the train. The Hindu extremists abused the young guys and exchanged hot words with the trio. After that, the extremists attacked them with daggers.
Eyewitnesses said police were present on the site when the extremists stabbed them brutally.
A delegation of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind visited family of the victims and demanded strict action against the culprits.
General Secretary JUH Maulana Mehmood Madni expressed concern over exacerbating situation of law and order in the country and demanded from the local authorities to bring the culprits to justice.
