Imran appeals nation to boycott Jang and Geo group

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan has called upon nation to boycott Jang and Geo group and its flagship newspapers for its anti-state propaganda, ARY News reported.

In his fiery speech on Wednesday night, Khan said Geo/Jang group ran campaign Pakistan army to defame it internationally. “Any patriotic Pakistani [who has comprehended the ulterior motives of Geo group] will not buy its newspaper from this point on,” he said.

He slammed the owner of Jang/Geo group, Mir Shakil ur Rehman and said he was a tax evader sitting in the UAE, whose earnings are based on blackmailings. Khan said Mir Rehman launched a campaign to malign the Pakistan Army and now he was up to waging propaganda against him.

Earlier in his address, the PTI chief said talks with the government could only be initiated once the prime minister tendered his resignation.

He also criticized the Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah, saying he should rather become the personal secretary of Nawaz Sharif, as he was actually siding with the government and not acting as true leader of the opposition.

Khan said, “The current rulers came into power stealing our mandate,” adding PM Nawaz Sharif was identical to Hosni Mubarak of Egypt”.
