ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday addressed the nation thanking Saudi Arabia for the economic assistance and congratulated the nation for the ‘amazing package’ received to steer out of a financial crisis.

However, the prime minister did not reveal the terms and conditions of the economic bailout package, what Pakistan offered in return, raising questions whether any deal has been struck.

Prominent party leader and Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda has denied that any deal was made or assurances were given go Saudi Arabia, saying that Imran Khan was not someone who would make any such deals.

“Imran Khan is the only Pakistani (leader) who does not believe in any deal. No country wants to make any such underhand deals with us as Imran Khan is not ready to give them.

“It is the honesty and worldwide recognition Imran Khan has that there are no deals,” he said, while speaking to ARY News program ‘Off the Record’ hosted by Kashif Abbasi.

He said that Pakistan has offered to act as a mediator in the Yemen crisis to unite Muslims nations, and previous governments had instead attempted to divide the nation and make covert agreements with foreign governments.

He said Imran Khan in his address to the nation took the nation into confidence on the Saudi package, and that efforts were being taken to change the destiny of the country.

He said it was shocking the opposition had not acknowledged the assistance from Saudi Arabia, taking a quip at PML-N leader M. Zubair who had criticised the move which would increase foreign debts.

The federal minister said that efforts were being made to seek assistance from other friendly countries particularly China, and he had recently met the Chinese ambassador who had immense interest in working with Imran Khan.
