ISLAMABAD: In a major development, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday apprised an anti-terrorism court (ATC) that all the evidence in the murder case of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Farooq had been collected.
During the course of proceedings, the FIA presented all the available evidences before the court and said that they had decided to record testimonies of the suspects involved in the murder case.
FIA would provide a questioner to the suspects Khalid Shameem, Mohsin Ali and Moazzam Ali on April 10 and would record their statements under section 342. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 10.
On January 30, The Islamabad High Court had rejected the plea of the FIA for stopping the trial in the murder case of Dr Imran Farooq and directed the investigation agency to approach the ATC, if it wanted to seek time to get more evidence from the United Kingdom where Mr Farooq was murdered in 2010.

The three main suspects in the Imran Farooq murder case, Khalid Shamim, Syed Mohsin Ali and Moazzam Ali had been indicted by the anti-terrorism court on May 2, 2018.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shamim had confessed that Farooq’s murder was a ‘birthday gift’ for the MQM founder while Syed had stated that he took part in the crime because he was promised a position in the MQM’s London Secretariat.
Dr Imran Farooq was stabbed and bludgeoned to death near his apartment in London in September 2010.
