“We have submitted the papers of Imran Khan’s nomination,” AML chief confirmed.

Sheikh Rashid hoped that Imran Khan would be elected as prime minister on August 17, which would follow his oath taking ceremony the next day.

According to PTI’s spokesperson, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf decided to pick its chief Imran Khan as a nominee for the office of prime minister, during a meeting of senior party leaders at his Banigala residence.

On the other hand, major parties of the opposition, PPP and PML-N, have locked horns over the joint opposition’s nominee for prime minister.

An opposition alliance comprising PPP, PML-N, ANP, MMA and other parties on August 7 jointly nominated Shehbaz Sharif as their candidate for premiership.

In a surprising move, Pakistan People’s Party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday said that his party will urge the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to change its nominee for premiership.

Nevertheless, while defying the statements of PPP, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif has submitted his nomination papers for the post of prime minister of Pakistan.
