SAHIWAL: Terming PTI’s April 29 rally a flop show, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday said that Imran Khan has failed to gain support from people of Punjab despite visiting Lahore again and again, ARY News reported.

Addressing a public rally in Sahiwal, the firebrand PML-N leader said that people of Punjab “reject” Imran Khan time and again for they know “he is a a pawn” who takes orders from “top”.

“He comes again and again to see if people of Punjab are ready to vote for him but bites the dust every time for masses never vote for a pawn,” said Maryam Nawaz.

She “warned” people of Sahiwal that if they will vote for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in upcoming general elections, the PTI chief can sell their votes to Zardari as he did in Senate elections.

“Remember their faces, these people (PTI leaders) will sell your votes to PPP, they don’t deserve your vote, they deserve punishment,” Maryam Nawaz told a charged crowd in Sahiwal before asking them to raise ‘Zardari, Imran Bhai Bhai’ slogans.

She was of the view that Nawaz Sharif did his best to resolve energy crisis and brought country on the path of progress forcing Zardari and Imran Khan to form an unholy alliance to beat him as they know they can’t beat him in elections.

“Who will you vote for? one who demands respect for vote or ones who take orders from top and disrespect your vote?,” Maryam Nawaz asked the crowd.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, during his speech, thanked people of Sahiwal for attending the rally in large numbers and said that this rally is a proof that his “Vote Ko Izzat Do” (Respect Vote) narrative is gaining popular among people.

“I saw their (PTI) Lahore rally and now I am seeing you people, there is no comparison, simply no comparison between the two,” said Nawaz, adding the PTI brought people from outside Lahore but still failed to fill Minar-e-Pakistan.

“Ladla Sahab, Aap Fail Hogaye Ho… Aap Pehlay Bhi Fail Thay Ab to Kachi Bhi Fail Hogaye,” said Nawaz while referring to Imran Khan.

Nawaz Sharif, who was rendered disqualified for life following a court decision on April 13, said people have rejected his disqualification for he worked hard and put the country on the path of progress during his premiership.

The PML-N’s “Quaid for Life” also urged people of Sahiwal to vote for his party and reject the “conspirators” who threw out an elected prime minister.

“Vote for me, vote for me in such large numbers that this disqualification verdict disappears under the burden of your votes,” said Nawaz.
