ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday asked the nation to celebrate Independence Day with full fervour as ‘Naya Pakistan’ was on the anvil, ARY News reported.
“I want all Pakistanis to celebrate 14th August, our Independence Day, with full fervour – especially as we are now moving towards Naya Pakistan and reclaiming Jinnah’s vision, InshaAllah,” he said in a statement on his Twitter account.
Imran is scheduled to take oath on August 18.
As soon as the newly-elected prime minister would take oath, the job of the caretakers would be over and power would be transferred to the newly elected government under the law and the constitution.
In another tweet, the PTI chief also broke the news that the Supreme Court had directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure that overseas Pakistanis exercise their right to vote through electronic means.
“Good news for our national asset, the overseas Pakistanis – PTI’s struggle for their voting rights’ implementation has been won as the SC has decided this must be done and directed the ECP to ensure the same through electronic means,” he said.
