BANNU: With the 2018 general elections less than a month away, activities such as door-to-door visits, corner meetings, large public gatherings and hoisting of banners, streamers as well as posters are picking up.

After kicking off his party’s election campaign in Mianwali and Islamabad, PTI chairman Imran Khan headed to Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where the party remained in power until completion of its five-year term this year.

The stage has been set for Mr. Khan to address a public meeting in Bannu to woo people to vote for him in the election on July 25.

All arrangements have been finalised for the meeting with the venue decorated with party flags, banners and posters bearing the pictures of the PTI chief and other party leaders.

Mr. Khan is contesting the July 25 election from NA-35 (Bannu), which is one of the five constituencies he is vying for this time.

“The PTI has never been this much prepared before for an election. My youth, get ready for July 25 (the poll day),” he said while addressing a workers’ convention in Islamabad on Saturday.

“It is time for change. We have separate rules for rich and poor in our country. Corruption ruins a country,” he said.

The PTI chief said a pool of big politicians were joining the party and those who were accumulating wealth through politics could not contend against obsession of youth.

Counting a number of issues facing the country, he said 200,000 kids die due to non-availability of clean drinking water and Karachi people were forced to buy potable water.

He also said the successful Billion Tree Tsunami Afforestation campaign of KP would be extended to whole Pakistan with a target of 10 billion trees.

“We will also focus on environmental matters. If we are to leave a better place for our future generations, we must plant trees as we planted one billion trees in KP,” he said.

He assured his party workers that as soon as the PTI will come into power, it would nip high level corruption in the bud. Curbing Low level corruption would, however, take some time but high level corruption would be curbed on the same day as his party will assume government, he said.

He vowed to collect taxes from people across the country, “InshaAllah, I will collect 8,000 billion rupees tax from the people of Pakistan, without raising the tax.”
