Imran warns over attempts to save Nawaz Sharif, amend NAB laws

UBAURO: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Sunday warned to retake to the streets if any attempt was made to safe ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or make any amendments to the national accountability laws.

Addressing a political gathering in the town of Ubarao in district Ghotki, the PTI leader warned incumbent Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbas and the Pakistan Muslims League (PML-N) from attempting to save Nawaz Sharif by making amendments in the national accountability laws.

Imran Khan said that Nawaz Sharif desired to strike a NRO-style deal to drop charges against him. However, he threatened to take to the streets in Islamabad if an NRO similar to the one issue during era Musharraf was being provided to him.

“If he receives an NRO then I will take to the streets in Islamabad,” he warned adding that a law was passed to make a disqualified person as party leader. “The entire nation will reach Islamabad if any is made to save Nawaz or change NAB laws.”

PTI chairman said the people of Sindh have suffered the most injustices which he witnessed over two decades ago, and has worked immensely to awaken the people of the province. “I am glad the people of Sindh have risen for change.”

 

Calling them as the ‘godfathers of corruption,’ Imran Khan said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Asif Ali Zardari has assets abroad in Dubai, London and US, while former Nawaz Sharif has allegedly taken over 300 billion rupees out of the the country.

“Those who money and business is not in Pakistan, people should not vote for them,” he said saying that people of Sindh should boycott these looters and plunderers. “Those who cannot live and die for the nation will not think about its people.”

Imran Khan called on people to boycott those who money and property is not in the country, and come to power just for their personal vested interests. “Promise me that you will observe social boycott of those involved in corruption.”

He said that all his assets are in Pakistan despite earning abroad as an international cricketer since the last thirty years, while the Sharif family was undergoing treatment in London and was not concerned about the state of hospitals in the country.

He called lashed at PM Abbasi asking what impression was being given by providing official protocol to an ousted premier. “What impression is being given that if you commit a huge theft then you will receive protocol.”

He said that since last nine years, only one minister was guilty of corruption belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and was held by his own government. He recalled that even Saudi Arabia has arrested eleven royals for alleged corruption, while China has held 313 minister responsible for corruption.

He deplored that there were no facilities in schools in Sindh, while the state of hospitals was exposed by Sehwan blasts. On the other hand, he alleged that Sindh ministers were becoming billionaires by pushing development funds in their pockets.

However, he vowed to raised over 8000 billion after coming to power, and develop a society where the poor do not have an edge over the elite class, and make Pakistan a prosperous nation.

He also said that they will not allow people of Sindh to suffer for another five years under Zardari, who he said should not be under the impression that everyone desire money in power. “The corrupt mafia, some brings an iqama, and some fall sick in London,” he said.
