ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Saturday said Indian forces on 27th October, 1947, landed in Srinagar to occupy and oppress the innocent people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IoK) in a clear violation of international law.
“Since then, India has continued to deny the people of Jammu and Kashmir their right to self determination and subjected them to the worst kind of human rights violations and oppression,” he said in a message on Kashmir Black Day.
The United Nations Security Council through several of its resolutions had validated the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future through a fair and impartial plebiscite, he said.

The minister said the plight of the Kashmiris had been further reaffirmed by the first ever report of the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on the situation in Jammu & Kashmir.
“In spite of barbaric Indian atrocities and apathy on behalf of a large part of the international community, the brave people of Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir have demonstrated exemplary resilience and grit in the face of perverse Indian aggression, he said.
“It is to commemorate that grit and spirit that on the occasion of Kashmir Black day, we reiterate our firm and continued moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of IoK in their sacred struggle and will not give it up until they achieve their legitimate right of self determination,” he added.
