ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Muhammad Azam Khan has directed his department to step up the security of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Headquarters in Islamabad after terrorism threat.

Following the statement of the chief of the accountability bureau, Justice (Retd.) Javed Iqbal that some elements have threatened to blow up the anti-graft authority’s Islamabad headquarters, the interim Interior Minister instructed to provide foolproof security to NAB’s headquarters.

Police commandos are tasked to provide security to the NAB headquarters, according to the instructions.

Addressing officers at the NAB’s Lahore office, the chairman of the anti-corruption watchdog on Monday said that the anti-graft authority’s recent crackdown has threatened fraudsters who have now resorted to threatening the authority’s officers and the infrastructure.

“We do not fear anyone, the anti-corruption crackdown will not stop,” added Javed Iqbal.

He maintained that the bureau, for the first time in 70 years of Pakistan, has held the powerful accountable but “some people have made it their habit to dodge its notices”.

Retired Justice Javed Iqbal added that the accountability bureau will one day put before the nation, a record of all the money looted from the national exchequer.
