Interior minister dispels apprehensions of some neighboring countries regarding CPEC

ISLAMABAD: Dispelling apprehensions of some neighboring countries regarding China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday said they were feeling apprehensive about CPEC, while it was not against anyone.

The mega project is not against anyone, rather it is for everyone,” he said in an interview with China Global Television Network.

He also dismissed apprehensions that CPEC will jeopardize South Asian stability. He said regional connectivity and cooperation under CPEC would benefit the neighboring countries.

The interior minister said no one could obstruct construction of CPEC and the government would make sure the project’s success.

He said Pakistan had raised a special force of about 15,000 personnel who were assigned exclusively for the security of Chinese personnel at the CPEC project.

Ahsan Iqbal said China and Pakistan had agreed to strengthen anti-terrorism and security cooperation along CPEC in this month.

He said CPEC had entered the phase where its fruits and dividends were beginning to be visible.
