Investigative journalism made crime as Sar-e-Aam exposes railways corruption

According to details, Sar-e-Aam team dispatched prohibited goods – liquor, arms and explosives – to Lahore with the assistance of the employees of railways cargo service.

These officials were repeatedly told about the nature of goods being sent to Lahore from Karachi and they had ensured of successfully delivering all the items as they were paid enough for this.

When the smuggled goods reached the railways warehouse, Lahore, Sar-e-Aam’s Lahore-based investigative reporters reached the spot with live DSNG van and cameras.

The reporters unpacked the bundles in front of the railways officials and showed them the illegal goods which were easily smuggled in from Karachi.

It is our request to the viewers to decide whether a person who smuggled illegal goods, can himself expose it to railways officials to arrange for his own arrest.

Sar-e-Aam team only committed the offence of exposing the criminal negligence of the Pakistan Railways and especially the Railways Police, by transferring illegal items from one city to another.

About which, the Railways Police claimed to have busted a gang involved in smuggling and if this statement is true then what answer would they furnish to the video recordings of the railways employees surrendering to transfer everything against money.

The Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique held the ARY News’ journalists accountable rather than inquiring the black sheep working within his department.

The minister failed to notice the misdeeds of railways employees and for him everything is fine, whether the officials are involved in bribery or the smuggling of weapons.

Who is the real culprit, whether the government employees involved in such heinous practices or the investigative reporters, the decision is left on to our viewers.
