MULTAN: Awami Raj Party Chairman and former member of the National Assembly failed to clear all the papers of bachelor of law (LLB) Part-1 the results of which were announced by Bahauddin Zakaria University on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

According to results, Dasti, who contested election from two NA seats in Multan in July 2018 but lost both to his rival candidates, couldn’t secure passing marks even in a single paper of the LLB Part-1 annual examination.

He had taken the papers last year at the Government Science College.

It is noteworthy that in 2010, Dasti had resigned from his National Assembly seat for allegedly possessing a fake degree. He was re-elected in a by-election held in 2010.

In April 2013 Dasti was sentenced to three years for presenting a fake graduation degree in the 2008 election.

However, the Multan bench of Lahore High Court overturned Dasti’s sentence, paving the way for him to contest the elections.  He was re-elected to the National Assembly as an independent candidate in the 2013 general elections from NA-177 and NA-178 Muzaffargarh.

Later, he was booked in a murder case in 2015 and was once again in the limelight for his controversial remarks against gang-rape victim Mukhtar Mai.

In June 2017, Dasti was arrested for allegedly opening a water canal forcibly in Muzzaffargarh to irrigate the farming lands but was later released on bail.
