KARACHI: Sindh High Court has said it would provide with justice the sole candidate who cleared the test for appointment of additional session judges, ARY News reported.

As many as 1175 candidates had appeared in the test out of which only one candidate named Saba Baloch had succeeded.

The test was subsequently declared void by the law department, but the decision to do so was challenged by the successful candidate.

A teary-eyed Ms Baloch told the court that she had cleared the test through ‘fair means’, solely on the ‘basis of her competence’.

“But I am being punished because someone influential has not passed the test”, she alleged.

Furnishing its response before the court, the law department held the view that the test paper had been ‘leaked’ a day before the test date, hence the test had lost its fairness.

The department said that in such circumstances, no successful candidate could be safely said to have passed the test without using unfair means.

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked that the court would decide the case before the date of the new test was announced.

He also assured the plaintiff that she would be provided with justice. The court also directed her to respond to the response of the law department.

The hearing was later adjourned till May 10th.
